Unrecognisable in comparison to the modern era (regardless of when you're actually reading this), the WWE tag division of the 1980s was exceptional in spite of Vince McMahon's distaste for paying four men for a match instead of two.

This unfortunately called for supreme squads to be cycled in and out of action as per the needs of the promotion, and too often left the likes of the Hart Foundation surplus to requirements.

This demotion had to be particularly disappointing for 'The Hitman' himself - Hart's babyface turn the prior year was the start of yet another aborted singles run for the 'Excellence Of Execution'. The man he'd kicked off his failed tenure against wasn't fairing much better, either.
