10 Ups & 8 Downs From AEW Fight For The Fallen
6. MJF, Outdone
A supplemental Down for Shawn Spears calling himself 'The Chairman.' There's only room for one of those in this business, pal, and it ain't you.
Jokes aside, Fight For The Fallen's second trios bout was a hoot. The three maddest bastards in AEW (Joey Janela, Jimmy Havoc, and Darby Allin) faced off against Shawn Spears, MJF, and Sammy Guevara. The heel side was always going to be dicey and this manifested early on, as MJF (Cody's apparent "best friend") shouted "hey Spears, watch this!" at the Fyter Fest villain. Havoc, Janela, and Allin had no such issues. They kept their offence as fast and brutal as possible, with Havoc and Janela warming the crowd up before Allin came in to a big pop, the crowd firmly on his side as he faced off with Spears.
Solid stooging saw Shawn tag out before Darby could get his hands on the man who "upstaged" him at Fyter. Guevara, his substitute, stuck a middle finger in the daredevil's face. The evildoers worked well in bursts but the frosty MJF/Spears dynamic was a problem throughout, making for a fun, easy layout that concluded with Spears finally imposing his will, pinning Allin to upstage MJF.
Also, for the sadists, Janela death valley driver'd Guevara on the apron. He shouted "f*ck you Cornette" afterwards, too. Legend.
