If they weren’t going to go out and wrestle a classic, then what we got with the WWE Universal Championship match was right on-point.

Paul Heyman stalked to the ring as the show opened and declared that if his client was in the main event, then they weren’t going to wait around all night either, so they should get this match over with. Instant heel heat.

Then, Brock Lesnar jumped challenger Seth Rollins before the match began and pummeled him outside the ring for a good while, hitting an F-5 on the floor and tossing him over the German announce table multiple times. When the match finally started, Brock hit three German suplexes before Rollins took advantage of the ref being knocked out of the ring to hit a low blow to gain control.

Three curbstomps later and Rollins had slayed The Beast. It’s easy to argue that Rollins could only beat Lesnar with a low blow, but as Corey Graves noted, Brock cheated by jumping Rollins before the match even started, so they were even there.

And hey, new champ! One who will show up every week. FINALLY.
