As 2014 wound down, WWE did something that turned out to be wise in retrospect: It took two under-utilized talents and paired them together as a tag team. Sometimes, this random pairing can be disastrous. Other times, it can work magnificently. In the case of Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, it definitely was the latter. The duo wasnt doing very much on their own and quickly became enough of a force to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships at Fastlane. They successfully defended their titles at WrestleMania before losing the straps at Extreme Rules. During that time, they became a fairly popular team on the strength of their in-ring performances, which included a lot of great tandem offense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goA6l8PtqV8 Although they have been out of the tag title picture for some time, the team still was a welcome part of the division until Kidd went down with a serious neck injury last month (during a match with Samoa Joe), which will keep him out of action for a year. As for Cesaro, after doing nothing of note for a bit, he stepped up and answered John Cenas United States Championship challenge on the last day of the first half of the year, delivering what was bordering on a match of the year. While its a shame (and borderline tragedy) to see Kidd go down like this and break up the team, the silver lining has to be the possibility that Cesaro could finally get a singles push. Maybe.
