10 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 10)

3. Babyface One Step Ahead

Typically when you see the hero trying to connect with and reform a villain, it’s going to end with the babyface flat on his back.

That’s why it was so refreshing to see Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins trying to remind Brian Kendrick of their friendship together (Kendrick drove TJP to matches when he was too young to drive, bought him an N64 to replace a broken game system) and asked him to be a better man. Just when you thought Kendrick might respect Perkins, he swung at TJ, but the champ was a half-step quicker and dropped the former Spanky.

In that one segment, you gave some more backstory to these two cruiserweights, revealed that Kendrick really is a lowlife, and showed that Perkins is not a chump. This was a nicely executed bit.

So it looks like we’re going to get Goldberg/Lesnar II, which is about the best you could hope for at this point, because it’s clear WWE isn’t willing to have a roster mainstay defeat Brock, and they can’t keep putting him in matches where he beats up active superstars or they creatively book him to lose without losing. Putting two attractions together in a sideshow dream match like this is about the best you can hope for.
