Ever since the triple threat WWE Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania XXXII, it was widely rumored that the company was saving Charlotte versus Sasha Banks for SummerSlam as a marquee matchup. While that still might be the case, WWE pulled a fast one Monday night, delivering a title bout that topped expectations.

Charlotte and Sasha tore down the house with an unbelievable title match that featured everything you could want from these two women. Thankfully, Banks didn’t injure herself on her dive through the ropes to the outside, because they had plenty of good stuff left in the tank afterward, with Charlotte hitting a moonsault press off the top rope to the floor, figure four reversals, and a dramatic staredown moments before Sasha tapped out the champ with the Banks Statement.

Some might say WWE wasted a title switch – especially considering Charlotte had held the women’s title for 10 months – in an unannounced match on Raw, but if you’re trying to convince fans that this is a new era and that they really should tune in, this is how you do it.
