This column has been (rightfully) harsh on the ongoing saga of the Golden Truth, as their ridiculously long courtship and push over younger talent was just senseless. But Monday, we got to see the duo entertain fans in a series of segments that built on each other and tied together nicely.

Goldust and R-Truth were seen multiple times backstage playing Pokemon Go, chatting up Sasha Banks, interrupting Darren Young and Bob Backlund, and mistaking the Pittsburgh Penguins’ logo for a Pokemon.

The payoff for the running joke came when Truth climbed into the ring during an Enzo Amore & Big Cass match against the Shining Stars. Truth continued to stare at his phone, apparently tracking a Pokemon and completely unaware of his surroundings, much like many people have done in real life. That distraction cost the Puerto Rican cousins the match.

Was it silly? Absolutely. But it was pretty well done and deserves some kudos.
