10 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 18)

3. Unrestrained Groaning

Can we get a restraining order for this abysmal angle?

Lana and Bobby Lashley hit the ring Monday night so Lana could inform us that she filed for divorce from Rusev earlier that day. That’s right, the storyline must continue. But more than that, she took out a restraining order against Rusev, which she helpfully put up on the screen.

And maybe this was done to add some “realism” to the situation, but the form naturally listed both Rusev and Lana’s real names, noting that they “perform” as their characters.

Um, what?

Look, it’s 2019. We all know that the wrestlers in WWE are performers playing characters. We know Seth Rollins is a character played by Colby Lopez. We also know Han Solo was a character played by Harrison Ford, but Han never pulled out a document showing his “real name” to move along the storyline.

Breaking character isn’t always a bad thing – when done in extremely rare, extremely careful situations. But this godawful angle does not warrant it. It’s just stupid.
