10 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 4)
7. Invoking A Different Four Horsemen
The Four Horsemen died a sad death in WCW in 1999 after a 15-year run that set the bar for excellence in professional wrestling. There have been talks for years about whether to revive the group and stables such as Evolution and TNAs Fortune have emulated the Horsemen but the name has remained retired. That is, until Monday, when Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family decimated Ryback and Big Show (two of the three entrants in the Royal Rumble) and declared that they were war, famine, pestilence and death the names of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Bray added that at the Rumble, they would ride, and everyone else would fall down before them, as the other Wyatts flashed a familiar four fingers pointed down (as they have in recent weeks). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_E7gEdOnfA While the Wyatts have used the hand gesture several times before, this was the first time Bray made a direct reference to the Horsemen. More importantly, Wyatt signaled that his clan was planning to team up to dominate the Rumble, which adds a layer of intrigue to the match. A stable of guys working together to win the Royal Rumble could provide some interesting dynamics during the bout.
