6. Buying In To A Divas Match
Lately, fans had reverted back to treating Divas matches a lot like they were in recent years: with silence. Endless directionless bouts between various combinations of women werent providing fans any reason to get invested. But Monday, WWE took the one active storyline going on Charlottes slow heel turn on a gullible Becky Lynch and pulled the trigger on it. And while even this column has been critical of casting the Lass Kicker as being naïve, WWE managed to pull this off as best as possible and fans reacted accordingly. After a stalemate (which fans applauded), Charlotte began getting more and more aggressive, which prompted fans to get even more behind Becky, who then began firing up on the Divas Champion with forearms. But when Ric Flair interfered and nearly cost Becky the match, she countered used a little underhanded move of her own, pinning Charlotte with a handful of tights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUCfWhAzmVs Naturally, Charlotte promptly attacked Becky afterward, but at least Lynch was savvy enough to realize that she had to fight fire with fire during the match, rather than being gullible and losing again. And now with Charlottes turn (hopefully) finalized, we can get on with some real momentum in the Divas division.
