So why is a match where Bayley overcame the odds and persevered a negative?

It’s hard to peg, but it’s also hard to believe WWE is going to continue booking Bayley stronger. She defeated two women who were teaming together seamlessly – there was no major mistake one of them made that led to their downfall – in a handicap match with no outside interference. If we had confidence WWE was doing this to build Bayley up, then we’d give it a pass.

This match also was screaming for someone – namely Sasha Banks – to come down and provide support for Bayley. She was all-but name-dropped twice in the last six days on WWE TV, seemingly hinting at her return, which would have made perfect sense to help Bayley retain.

Instead, the Huggable One beat two challengers herself. Now, here’s the caveat: If WWE is serious about booking Bayley as a top-level star, then this is an easy “up.” But for now, this feels more like a game-time decision to have Bayley retain without heel miscommunication or a friend bailing her out rather than some long-term planning.
