8. Retire The Chairs Match

After sitting through yet another chairs match – this one between Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio – there’s only one conclusion: It’s time to retire the chairs match.

Ladder matches and table matches serve their purpose, but a chairs match exists solely to complete the trifecta of TLC. It doesn’t add anything to the match. In fact, it detracts greatly. Watching Mysterio and Orton bash each other with chairs, it was a plodding affair that was slowed down because both men are reacting to being hit with the steel.

We’ve seen plenty of times wrestlers getting hit with a chair once and being knocked out for the count, but here, Orton had to have been hit a dozen times, and it was a rollup that beat him.

Chairs matches are rarely, if ever, good, so please, just do away with them. We promise we won’t miss them.
