10 Very Evil, Very Fascinating Facts About AEW's Newest Signing Danhausen!
2. Danhausen Debuted As Donovan Danger
Like many wrestlers, Danhausen debuted as a far different character than the one fans are familiar with.
On the Talk is Jericho podcast, Danhausen revealed to Chris Jericho that when he made his initial pro wrestling debut in 2013, the promoter for his first match told him that the name ‘Danhausen’ would be too hard for audiences to say, billing him as ‘Donovan Danger’ instead.
If the name itself wasn’t generic enough, they sent him out to Rock You Like a Hurricane, a good, but fairly basic intro song for a professional wrestler, which feels like the cherry on the strange sundae of decisions made that evening.
It’s hard to imagine a bare-faced pro wrestler named ‘Donovan Danger’ getting signed by ROH, much less AEW, and so it finds itself sequestered into the bin of weird names famous wrestlers almost wound up stuck with (like Chilly McFreeze for one ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, for example).
