Throughout the 2010s, NXT was WWE's glowing asset, which (at least in the mind of pro-wrestling fans) could do no wrong. It was a place that showcased the company's best matches of the last decade and gave the fandom a genuine alternative to Raw and SmackDown without venturing away from WWE. It allowed indie standouts to have their earned turn in the spotlight, alongside gifting developmental talent the chance to build up a fanbase before their main roster debut. All of this was achieved through the vision and effort of Paul 'Triple H' Levesque. This is perhaps the greatest loss in transitioning between NXT and 2.0.

Under the guidance of Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard, NXT has lost it's soul and replaced it with paint splatter. McMahon and Prichard are two of the business' sharpest minds, however, on this matter the two are misguided, even if promises of edgier content pique interest.

For NXT to experience a much needed renaissance, the present must look to the past. The new pizazz along with the quality of matches of the 2010s, is the solution most likely to guide booking through 2022.
