10 Very Rare Brock Lesnar Matches You Have To See

2. Mr. Perfect (Jan 28, 2002)

Another of Lesnar’s dark match runouts saw him go up against the legendary Mr. Perfect. Perfect — real name Curt Hennig — was back in the WWE for a brief swansong run, and as Lesnar revealed in his book, Death Clutch, the two Minnesotans had struck up a friendship.

Lesnar had a huge amount of respect for the veteran, especially his “get in to get out” mantra. And so it’s great to see evidence of the two sharing a ring before Hennig’s tragic passing in February 2003.

Admittedly, we don’t get to see the entire thing in the shady YouTube footage above. But despite Lesnar’s newness to professional wrestling, he and Hennig clearly had chemistry. Then again, that might be more a reflection Curt’s ability than it is anything to do with Brock.

The match was wrapped up after Hennig hit the Perfectplex to pick up the 1-2-3. And in a lovely tribute to the now-deceased great, you may have noticed that one of the suplexes that Lesnar dished out to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 was indeed one of Hennig’s Perfectplexes. Or at least, Lesnar’s interpretation of one.

These two wouldn’t square off again until a few months later. But with that confrontation taking place in a plane a 40,000 feet, this is just about the only footage in existence of Lesnar vs. Hennig.
