The build up to the match played up Kane’s emotional side and was the beginning of his growth, for better and worse, as a three-dimensional character rather than an anonymous monster. He found himself in an odd love triangle with Chyna and Triple H. This was a more traditional and wholesome romance storyline compared to the direction of Kane and Triple H’s 2002 feud.

Kane first had to fend off the San Diego Chicken with a Tombstone Piledriver. ‘The Big Red Machine’ tore off the chicken head revealing baseball legend Pete Rose, whose rivalry with Kane later landed him in the Hall of Fame as its first celebrity entrant.

Triple H ambushed Kane from behind with a pre-match low blow, allowing for an early upper hand. Yet, ‘The Devil’s Favourite Demon’ showed his skills as an athletic big man, but an attempted flying clothesline gave ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ an opening.

The DQ:

Chyna entered the ring and postured as if to hit Triple H with a steel chair. When Kane turned his back, Chyna blasted him instead, in sight of the referee, who disqualified 'The Game'.

Chyna and Triple H hugged it out and D-Generation X were a whole dysfunctional family again.
