Theres no way to describe the Spirit Squad other than that they were a group of young, boisterous, athletic, well cheerleaders. These five men - Mikey, Nicky, Kenny, Johnny, and Mitch -- wore matching green warm up pants with matching singlets, and would charge to the ring while carrying poms poms and bullhorns. The Squad was immediately despised for their incredibly strange gimmick. However, the groups members were incredibly athletic and impressive talents -- as Kenny received a big push after the groups dissolution, while Nicky later became the show off, Dolph Ziggler. Strangely, despite the Spirit Squads utter wackiness, they were involved in a major program alongside Vince and Shane McMahon, who were feuding with the re-formed D-Generation X of Triple H and Shawn Michaels. The most famous incident to come from this feud was the McMahons and the Spirit Squad being covered in human waste. Beyond their feud with DX, the Spirit Squad even won the World Tag Team Championship -- all five members were considered champions as they enacted the supposed Freebird rule so that the group could rotate its members as needed. In the end, however, the Spirit Squad didnt last very long -- only managing to stick around for about eight months. Despite their relatively short run, the Squad are remembered -- although probably not very fondly.
