My favourite part of the last brand split was how it gave us the inter promotional match between Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 21. The story was simple and ,within the confines of a brand split world, it made perfect sense. Shawn Michaels eliminated Angle from the Royal Rumble, then Angle came back and took out HBK as revenge, this escalated into Angle beating Marty Jannetty and bringing Sensational Sherri in to sing "Sexy Kurt" on SmackDown, and even led to Michaels dressing up as a camera man to attack Angle on the blue brand's show. That's the power that an inter-promotional battle can have if the stars are kept apart. For the first twelve months of the new brand split, we should only see RAW guys and SmackDown guys interacting at the Royal Rumble or on the first Draft show. In order to make this a long term success, the current audience need to be taught that WWE are serious this time and the brands will be distinct, unique and separate. Then and only then can we get inter-promotional dream matches that the fanbase are dying to see.
