10 Ways A Brand Split Would Help WWE Right Now

2. Floating WWE Champions

In 2002, WWE adopted the World Tag Team Titles for RAW and the WWE Tag Team Titles on SmackDown. If the 2016 brand split was a big success, then maybe in a couple of years that would be a good idea but given how limited the tag team division is, in terms of depth, it makes sense to have your Tag Team Champions able to appear on both shows and have to fend off multiple challengers at a time. It would add to the prestige of the Tag Team belts, in that the champions would be made to face all comers from both RAW and SmackDown. At the beginning of the original brand split in 2002, the WWE Champion would appear on both shows and defend the title against challengers from both brands. After about six months, they separated it into the WWE Title being on SmackDown and the World Title being on RAW. In a modern day roster split, I'd hope that the WWE World Heavyweight Champion would appear on both shows. I've always preferred there being one World Championship that is defended across both brands rather than two different World Champions. There should only be one top man in the company and having the champ on both shows can be a bit of a throwback to NWA Champ Ric Flair going to the different territories to defend his title. Whoever the World Champion is, should be saved for special occasions and shouldn't wrestle on both shows every week. With some good creative, the WWE World Champion could legitimately be the top guy in the whole company. What a world that would be.
