10 Ways MMA Has Influenced Modern WWE

8. Rematch Clauses

Rematch clauses aren't specific to MMA, and have long been part of boxing history, but honestly, no promotion uses them the way the UFC does. Almost every established champ has one. Jon Jones did, not that he needed it prior to being stripped of his belt for a hit and run incident. Georges St. Pierre had one in his longest run as UFC welterweight champ, but he retired with the belt. Anderson Silva did need it, not that it helped - Chris Weidman beat him twice in the end.

And you'd better believe Ronda Rousey has one.

So when the WWE started pushing the "rematch clause" when Brock Lesnar had his belt taken by Seth Rollins, without being pinned by the man, it was something of a nod to the sport from which Lesnar returned just a few years ago.
