10 Ways SmackDown Can Save WWE

6. See It Through With Seth Rollins

In an unusual and atypical case of showing rather than telling, WWE have booked Seth Rollins with long and short term direction in 2021.

Having failed to get within touching distance of a title shot at WrestleMania, the already-embarrassed Rollins was further humiliated by Cesaro in the build to 'The Show Of Shows'. He took out his frustrations on 'The Swiss Superman' following a loss to Roman Reigns in a match Rollins quietly fumed wasn't his.

With that business eventually completed, he stated his golden aspirations loud and clear, but Money In The Bank was given to him as the only way in. It was during this time that hostilities with Edge emerged, but only after their losses in the ladder match and to the 'Tribal Chief' respectively. That feud won't die, but it's likely his thirst to reign as Universal Champion again won't either.

A battle between the former Shield "brothers" is one worthy of a major pay-per-view (or now, a big edition of SmackDown), and should be followed through on the back of the foundations that have been laid. This is about raising standards of audience expectation, which they in turn can then project on to Monday Night Raw as WWE moves forward into the first full year with crowds since 2019.
