10 Ways The WWE Title Can Rebuild Its Tarnished Legacy

8. Throw John Cena In The Mix

John Cena's 16th world title win sucked, and was the starting point for the WWE Championship's decline in 2017. It needlessly cut AJ Styles' fantastic reign short, and reeked of cynicism, existing only to write his name alongside Ric Flair's in the history books. It never should've happened, but that doesn't mean John shouldn't be featured in the WWE Title picture going forward. In fact, reinstating 'The Face That Runs The Place' as a contender isn't a bad idea at all if WWE want to repair the damage done throughout Jinder's run,

Say what you will about him, but Cena remains WWE's biggest star. His mere presence adds prestige to everything he touches, including the WWE Championship, and there's no doubt it'd feel like a bigger prize with John in the hunt.

The company would need to be careful. If they're going to strap Cena again, and give him sole ownership of Flair's old record, they must do so with a strong build. Nobody liked what happened in January, and it'd take a great, long-term story for the audience to buy into him as 'The Guy' again. Either way, his evergreen popularity would help draw eyes back to the belt, even if he's only there to put others over.
