10 Ways The WWE Title Can Rebuild Its Tarnished Legacy

6. A Strong Long-Term Program

Once the hot-shotting has concluded, it's vital that WWE build a strong, long-term storyline to anchor their top title throughout 2018 (and maybe even beyond).

The company haven't spun a good yarn around the belt all year. John Cena's title win was a contrived ploy. The Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton program provided some of 2017's worst television. 'The Viper' vs. Jinder Mahal was lifeless, and 'The Maharaja's' recent rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura was rife with racism.

The belt needs a great storyline, and there are plenty of ways to build one. Perhaps the company spend the next year rebuilding Nakamura following the destructive Mahal rivalry, culminating in a big title win, or throw it into the ongoing Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens saga. They could take somebody like Tye Dillinger and build him up with an underdog saga similar to Zayn's in NXT, or bring somebody over from Raw and have them run a gauntlet of contenders.

Whatever the narrative, it's important that WWE nail it. A brand's top program should be the one everyone tunes in for, but this hasn't been the case for months, and it's time to right this almighty wrong.
