10 Ways The WWE Title Can Rebuild Its Tarnished Legacy
2. Create The Anti-Lesnar
He'll always be divisive, but Brock Lesnar is absolutely the right man to hold the WWE Universal Title at the moment.
The big red belt badly needed a credible champion in the wake of Kevin Owens' disastrous reign and Goldberg's brief dalliance, and they don't come more credible than 'The Beast.' His presence, aura, and star-power make him one of the company's only true must-see acts, and the belt feels infinitely more important while around his waist, such is his power.
The argument against Lesnar's reign is that he's barely around, and that the Universal Title sometimes feels like an afterthought as a result. Most WWE titles aren't defended all that often these days, including SmackDown's biggest belt, with Mahal putting it on the line an average of once a month. Throwing some regular TV defences into the mix would help forge a workrate-focused identity for the WWE Championship, giving it a way to stand out from the Universal Title, which has clearly usurped it as the company's top prize.
