10 Ways To Make WWE Smackdown A ‘Must-See’ Show Again

10. Go Live

Super Smackdown Live Unlike Raw€™s live show, the action on Smackdown is three days old by the time it airs. The taped nature of the show often leads to not a lot of major developments taking place. Maybe this in part due to the nature of the internet €“ Vince McMahon might still have flashbacks of Eric Bischoff reading spoilers of taped Raws in the 90s €“ and a desire to not have a major angle revealed on the web on Tuesday night. Going live would help alleviate that concern and give Smackdown the same feel of unpredictability, a belief that €œanything can happen€ on a live program. It€™s also painfully obvious when you hear the canned crowd noise that you€™re not dealing with a live reaction. Unfortunately, given WWE€™s belt-tightening these days, doing live shows every Monday and Friday is not feasible. They tape Smackdown the night after Raw for a reason, and it€™s dollars and cents. However, that€™s not to say that WWE couldn€™t decide to do a live special every once in a while. Maybe they spring for a live show if the occasion is right, or they work it out with Syfy to move Smackdown to live on Tuesday for a week.
