10 Ways To Make WWE Smackdown A ‘Must-See’ Show Again
9. Reintroduce World Heavyweight Championship
This idea was raised in a recent article exploring the benefits of bringing back the Big Gold Belt, with the notion that its return could boost Smackdown. Barring an elevation of the Intercontinental Championship, the World Heavyweight Championship would present a strong secondary title to fight over. During its previous incarnation, the World Heavyweight Championship seemed to be relegated to Smackdown despite the end of the Brand Extension, which seems fitting since the WHC was the other world title and Smackdown is WWEs B-show. Now might be a good time for the Big Gold Belt to make a return. The WWE World Heavyweight Championship is being defended once a month (at best) by Brock Lesnar on PPV only, and the Beast Incarnate is only appearing on Raw anyway (more on that later). Reintroducing the WHC would create a recognizable world title for wrestlers to fight over, especially on a show like Smackdown, where fans are less likely to see a world title match.
