10 Ways To Repackage WWE's Struggling Wrestlers

9. Dolph Ziggler: NXT Gatekeeper

WWE are said to be plotting a second Superstar Shake-Up, and there's talk that NXT could be involved. Not only would this mean a number of call-ups, but several existing main roster wrestlers joining the developmental brand too.

There are a number of viable candidates for such a jump, but Dolph Ziggler makes the most sense. 'The Show-Off' is one of the least interesting wrestlers in the world at the moment. Ground down by years of terrible booking, his popularity has nosedived along with his usage rate. His 2016 feud with The Miz was great, but he has since returned to the mire, and there's no saving him on SmackDown.

Having spent the last few years as an also-ran, moving to NXT would allow Dolph to transition into a veteran's role. He was in developmental himself, so he knows what it takes to get through the system, and whether working face or heel, Ziggler would be an effective gatekeeper for younger wrestlers to get through en route to the NXT Title.

The brand's less restrictive wrestling style may also compel him to start putting in great performances again, relighting a fire that was extinguished a long time ago.
