10 Ways Wrestlers Faces Were Altered Forever Because Of Wrestling

1. Brock Lesnar’s Cauliflower Ear

Brock Lesnar’s known for having a high tolerance for pain. You could easily believe he shrugs when injuries yell at his body “Here Comes The Pain!”. He’s endured a rough concussion from WrestleMania XIX, diverticulitis (which caused a 12-inch piece of his colon to be removed) and had his face permanently scarred after Cain Velasquez split it open in their UFC 121 main event.

Brock’s face also permanently changed from cauliflower ear (also known as wrestler’s ear), where the outer ear becomes permanently swollen and deformed, resembling a cauliflower. His right ear is forever puffed and swollen when he’s on WWE TV. Old school wrestlers like Bruno Sammartino and Buddy Rogers noticeably suffered from it too.

Lesnar first picked up this condition from his amateur wrestling career, where the roughness of the padded mat is tough on the ear. It only got worse when he began his MMA career in 2007. In an interview with MMA H.E.A.T. hyping his upcoming UFC 141 fight with Alistair Overeem it’s glaringly noticeable. Some fans genuinely thought he was fitted with an earpiece when he returned to WWE in 2012 to remember his lines but it was simply just his swollen ear.
