2. Warhorse Gets Lacerated

Warhorse has been a standout on the independent circuit, even making his debut appearance for AEW in 2020 in a losing effort to Cody Rhodes for the TNT title on Dynamite.

During a match with Gary Jay for the Zero1 USA promotion in 2018, Warhorse suffered a horrible injury that soon went viral. It was a ruthless Last Man Standing match, with weapons being legal and encouraged.

Jay tore the top rope off its hinges and put the metal hook directly in Warhorse’s mouth, trying to (in kayfabe) tear a hole in his mouth. Jay then got him up and threw him out of the ring but the hook stayed in his mouth and (for real) ripped his mouth open. The side of his face was hanging off and gushing blood as he lay on the ground.

Warhorse didn’t notice how bad it was from the adrenaline in the match. He somehow even finished the match. When he got to hospital a nurse asked him “What happened?” and he hilariously replied “I lost my smile.” A huge scar below his lip remains to this day.

Zero1 USA had to release a statement apologizing the day after the Last Man Standing match as some fans in the audience that night didn’t quite appreciate the gruesome imagery of it all.
