10 Ways WWE Are Still Stuck In The Past

6. A Fake Revolution

Nobody can argue that WWE’s Women’s Resolution hasn’t been a huge success. The company are now a million miles removed from the days of Divas, bra & panties matches, and Trish Stratus barking like a dog, and the standard of women’s wrestling has never been as high. The likes of Sasha Banks and Charlotte are now genuinely on a level playing field with the male counterparts, and it’s all down to the work they’ve put in over the past few years.

The movement isn’t half as revolutionary as WWE would have you believe, however. Nikki Bella and Emmalina (if she ever returns…) still perform gimmicks that revolve almost entirely around their looks, while Alicia Fox is treated like a prop in the Cedric Alexander vs. Noam Dar feud. Only five women (Charlotte, Sasha, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, and Bayley) have enjoyed significant pushes since the “Revolution” started, and two of the Royal Rumble’s three women’s matches were relegated to the Kickoff Show.

It’s a revolution for those at the top of the pile, but not those below. WWE can’t push everyone at the same time, but this has been going on for 20 months now, and they’re still not doing all they can with the women. It took them almost a full year to start getting things right, and the ongoing improvements represent more of a gradual rebuild than a revolution.
