10 Ways WWE Are Worse Than They Were A Decade Ago

2. Jim Ross And The Art Of Announcing

A big criticism of WWE in 2015 is the state of the announcing. Michael Cole, JBL, Booker T and the like rarely pay attention to whatever is going on in the ring and instead plug Total Divas, Twitter or the WWE Network. It's a sorry state of affairs when you think of what the announcing was like just a decade ago. Jim Ross wasn't perfect - he was prone to unnecessary hyperbole and some of his metaphors/catchphrases/calls were downright ridiculous - but he's still the greatest announcer in WWE history. And he was still on top of his game in 2005. Go back and watch some matches that JR called from that year and see how much effort he puts into getting performers, moves, matches and angles over. It really is masterful. Nowadays, Vince doesn't want commentators to talk about moves or describe the action. He wants them to spout off lame catchphrases like 'I love it, Maggle!' and 'Shucky Ducky Quack Quack'. Michael Cole has gotten better (or less insufferable) over the years but he's still not a patch on Good 'Ol JR.
