The other tiresome Dave Meltzer meme, besides the abysmal "Tokyo Dome" patter, is "plans change". As some would have it, Meltzer makes everything up as he goes along, using this as an excuse with which to cover his back.

Again, the irony is incredible; much like those who accuse Meltzer of bias have no frame of reference, those who level this accusation cannot be watching. Imagine watching Nia Jax build her RAW Women's Title defence at Money In The Bank around her invulnerability to Ronda Rousey's armbar, knowing d*mn well she tapped to Asuka's on RAW in March, under the belief that WWE isn't in incoherent mess of whatever is convenient at the time.

Plans to absorb content from the aforementioned WWE-affiliated Independents have changed constantly over the last 18 months. Agreements are in place; it is up to Vince McMahon to green-light the decision, reverse it, green-light it, reverse it, and then green-light it again.

Such a strategy makes for an ugly and sad precedent, one your writer personally does not wish to see - the joy of Independent wrestling is in its very designation - but still, it may allow WWE to pad out the subscriber count with subscribers who aren't even fond of WWE.
