10 Ways WWE Has Been An Absolute Mess In 2021

9. Turning Alexa Bliss Into The Fiend

Once Alexa Bliss started chumming around with Bray Wyatt, fans quickly furrowed a brow. There was a slight chance that Bliss could've corrected the Sister Abigail angle of yesteryear, something even WWE alluded to when Abby the Witch tried to shoo her away. What ended up actually happening, however, was much different.

Leading up to the WrestleMania 37 betrayal, Bliss began to harness supernatural powers. This wasn't a great look for the former women's champion, as it focused on the less popular aspects of 'The Fiend' rather than the original mind games. In a sense, Bliss soon represented all of the worst qualities of WWE's resident murder clown. Once she turned on Wyatt during his match against Orton, the spooky shenanigans went into overdrive.

There's a way to use ghoulies in wrestling, but this certainly hasn't been it. Execution is everything, and such storylines need to be handled in a way that isn't detrimental to the suspension of disbelief. All of the hokey fire and brimstone stuff nearly insults the fans' intelligence, as it constantly reminds them what they are seeing is complete phooey.

The cooky schtick takes away from what a terrific performer Bliss can be under more traditional circumstances, and worse off, it affects the image of those who cross her path, such as Shayna Baszler. Hopefully, WWE will wisen up and find a way to drop the act before live crowds return in the summer. Otherwise, the fans are sure to voice their displeasure.
