10 Ways WWE In 2015 Is JUST Like WWF In 1985

7. AWA's SuperClash = PWG's Battle Of Los Angeles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URDGtTzqTF4 In 1985, the American Wrestling Association partnered with the NWA and World Class Championship Wrestling for SuperClash, an event that lasted until 1988 and featured a mix of talent from all three organizations in an attempt to compete with the WWF's WrestleMania. The thought was that no one organization had the ability to compete with Vince, but maybe if all three competitors joined forces, they could be successful. In an intriguing note, eventually 14 of the 40 competitors on the SuperClash I show later became WWF-signed stars. Somewhat similarly, west coast independent promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has hosted the Battle of Los Angeles weekend event over the past decade featuring the best of independent and non-WWE signed wrestlers. The Battle itself is a 16-wrestler tournament held over three days. Though not a direct competition to WWE, it's certainly an eye-catching and notable diversion. Intriguingly, of the 16 wrestlers booked in 2005's BOLA tournament, four (Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and J & J Security's Jamie Knoble) have since gone on to regularly appear in WWE.
