10 Ways WWE Screwed Up At Battleground 2017

1. THAT Return

The Great Khali completed one of the most unwanted comebacks in WWE history last night. Three years removed from his last appearance, the former World Heavyweight Champion played a decisive role in the main event, and while his arrival produced a surprisingly good pop, reality will soon kick in once the surprise wears off.

Khali is one of WWE’s most maligned former champions. A towering oaf, he brought new meaning to the phrase “slow and plodding,” with matches characterised by his cumbersome, awkward movements and complete lack of finesse. Even at his “peak,” Khali moved at a glacial pace, and struggled to execute the most rudimentary wrestling moves without embarrassment.

There’s no word on whether Khali’s comeback was a one-off, but if it wasn’t, fans should be very worried. His presence might spike the Indian market (where he is a genuine megastar), but with athletic standards at an all-time high, there shouldn’t be a place for him in today’s WWE. The best case scenario is that we’ve seen the last of him, and his return only fouled a single PPV main event: the worst is that we have to endure another dreadful Khali run.
