10 Ways WWE Screwed Up At Money In The Bank 2017

4. Orton & Mahal's Repeat Finish

Jinder Mahal wrestled the best match of his career on Sunday night. While his rematch with Randy Orton wasn’t anything you need to go out of your way to see, it was a solid title fight, with Jinder harnessing genuine intensity and aggression during his control segments. Slowly but surely, ‘The Modern Day Maharaja’ is putting it together in the ring, and if he continues on his current development curve, he might yet make something of his maligned title run.

Much like the Tag Team Championship match however, Mahal vs. Orton was ultimately dragged down by its finish. Instead of devising a new way to put the champion over, WWE went for a near carbon copy of their Backlash conclusion, with Orton beating the tar out of the Singh Brothers, and Jinder capitalising on the distraction to hit the Khallas, and leave with the gold.

It keeps the feud going, but it’s lazy booking, and it makes Orton look like a chump for falling for the same routine twice. SmackDown’s main event scene is creatively barren at the moment, and while this gives the rivalry a reason to continue, recycling the exact same finish they used four weeks ago is incredibly cheap.
