10 Ways WWE Screwed Up At Money In The Bank 2017

3. The Boring Option

Anyone who pays close attention to wrestling news sites knew that Baron Corbin was probably going to leave St. Louis with the Money In The Bank briefcase. His victory was pinpointed months ago, and he walked in as a heavy betting favourite, with the odds showing no sign of shifting in the days leading up to to the event.

Thus, few were surprised when he eventually scaled the ladder and scored the victory. ‘The Lone Wolf’s’ triumph was entirely predictable, and while the match itself was fantastic, the outcome does little to re-energise the ailing WWE Title scene.

Being Mr. Money In The Bank works for Corbin’s opportunistic character, but for all the improvements he has made on the main roster, he was still one of the least inspiring wrestlers in the match. An AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, or Shinsuke Nakamura victory would’ve done wonders to save SmackDown from staleness, but no, we’re likely headed towards Corbin vs. Orton, or worse, Corbin vs. Mahal.

It’s the most unexciting scenario WWE could possibly have booked coming out of Money In The Bank, not because Corbin is a particularly bad performer, but because the other options were much more exciting.
