10 Ways WWE Screwed Up At SummerSlam 2017

9. Burying Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin hit the WWE main roster with aplomb in April 2016, winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in his first match. Though WWE ultimately failed to capitalise on this, it felt like a genuine vote of confidence for the big man, who feuded with midcard mainstay Dolph Ziggler throughout his first few months, had a fun rivalry with Kalisto towards the end of the year, then entered the WWE Title hunt.

'The Lone Wolf's push continued. He "won" his feud with Dean Ambrose, though he didn't become Intercontinental Champion, then he scored his greatest victory by becoming Mr. Money In The Bank in June. He was on the cusp, or so it seemed.

The past six days have rendered all of this pointless. Not only did Corbin lose his MITB briefcase in the most humiliating way imaginable, but he was defeated by John Cena in just over 10 minutes last night, cementing his burial. The guy has been shoved down the ladder even quicker than he was pushed, and it appears that WWE have lost faith in him.

Nobody really wanted to see Corbin as WWE Champion, but why invest all that time in someone if you're just going to bury them in the end?
