10 Ways WWE SummerSlam 2015 Could've Been Saved

4. A Clean Finish For The Cena-Rollins Match

One of the biggest criticisms of Seth Rollins’ current title reign is that he comes off as a perpetual weakling, the mirror image of dominant heel Brock Lesnar was as champion. This problem comes from the manner in which Rollins wins the majority of his matches and title defenses: via interference, disqualification, or some other form of ‘Dusty finish’.

This does little to make him feel like a credible champion, and makes him seem entirely dependent on others for his own success. Nowhere else was his more obvious than in his SummerSlam match with John Cena.

The match was clearly balanced, with both men demonstrating impressive skill. However, Rollins was the superior athlete in the match, and looked right on top of his game in this contest. To really drive the point home that he truly deserved to be WWEWHC (and negate the criticisms that Cena had leveled against him), Rollins should’ve won clean. And he could have…if not for the bizarre decision to have John Stewart screw Cena over.

With that decision, Rollins once again came off as weak and inferior to Cena, who was presented as being so powerful that it’s a necessity for his opponents to cheat to beat him.

Had Rollins won clean, it would’ve given the fans in attendance a genuine moment to be proud of Rollins, and would’ve done much more in elevating the WWEWHC to the top of the card, instead of being second to Cena.
