To be fair, WCW also misused the former ECW champion, but WWE should have recognized the talent they had in front of them. In bringing Mike Awesome into WWE, they had the opportunity to hit the reset button and build him up as a tough competitor who would fight for the Intercontinental title or be the muscle in a prominent tag team. Unfortunately, the highlight of the late Mike Awesome's WWE career took place on his first night, when he won the Hardcore title. After that, it was all downhill until his release less than two years later.
