7. War Games

If you’re a regular reader of online scuttlebutt, Triple H has been trying to get Vince McMahon to use the War Games concept on main WWE television for years. Hunter has had to settle with using the match type in NXT rather than on any of the monthly WWE PPVs. With Eric Bischoff now taking over as the Executive Director of SmackDown Live, the former WCW head honcho would be the perfect person to bring this famed staple of World Championship Wrestling to WWE.

Like any sort of match type, there were obviously some very good and very bad editions of the War Games match, but the stipulation at least always helped to give WCW a sense of identity; it was something that no other promotion was doing. Currently, both Raw and SmackDown are in dire need of embracing a unique identity and making themselves stand out as something special. NXT has already proved that War Games can be all kinds of fun under the WWE umbrella, and the appointment of Bischoff makes it such a natural fit to add a War Games match to WWE’s PPV schedule.

Of course, a large part of being able to properly bring War Games back would be having enough associated teams and stables. Which brings us nicely to our next entry.
