10 WCW Thunder Moments You Need To Revisit

6. Bret Hart's Farewell Appearance

The story of how Bret Hart's stellar 20-plus-year wrestling career drew to a close is a little sad, when you think about it.

After swapping a lead role in the WWE for a walk-on one with WCW, his somewhat disappointing late-90s run - largely over-shadowed by the nWo - came to an abrupt end when he suffered a concussion during a match with Goldberg at StarrCade 1999.

His final appearance came, inauspiciously, on an episode of Thunder in September of the following year, when he goaded Goldberg into attacking him in order to facilitate a Scott Steiner ambush.

It wasn't the ideal way to bow out, but it's memorable simply because it was the last time we saw him in professional wrestling for nearly a decade.
