Ah, Chris Benoit. The Canadian Crippler was seemingly doing battle on WCW Monday Nitro every single week, putting on quality showcases against opponents as varied as Dean Malenko, Glacier and The Barbarian. It was Benoit's great work in the ropes that eventually saw him rise to the top of the card before departing for the World Wrestling Federation.

Benoit's first match on Nitro came in October of 1995, as he defeated fellow recent recruit Eddy Guerrero on an episode headlined by a tag match involving Sting & Ric Flair (yep) taking on Brian Pillman & Arn Anderson.

Benoit's last Nitro match came at the end of the last millennium, where Jeff Jarrett defeated him in a ladder match for the United States Championship. That match was a re-match from the previous night's Starrcade event.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
