10 Weakest Members Of Popular Wrestling Stables

2. The Von Erich’s - Lance Von Erich

The Von Erich Family is one of the most legendary families in the history of professional wrestling. They were the stars of WCCW, and unlike most sons of the promoters, these guys deserved to be on top. They were local heroes, and packed in the crowds at the Dallas Sportatorium on a regular basis.

Having the Von Erich surname was a ticket to stardom, so Fritz, the patriarch of the family, thought it would be okay just to create another one. Instead of getting to work making another child and waiting 20 years, he just picked William Vaughan, changed his first name to Lance, and slapped a Von Erich label on the end of it. He was the long lost cousin of the family. Yeah... that's the ticket.

Of course, it didn’t go over well. This was in the mid-80s, when fans in Texas largely believed that professional wrestling was on the up-and-up. Even if they didn’t think that, they knew the Von Erich’s were genuine, and didn't take kindly to seeing an imposter added to the group.

Fancy Lancy (not a nickname he was ever given) only lasted about a year in the role, before being politely asked to give the name back, and then having all of his future holiday invitations to the Von Erich’s house rescinded.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
