That’s right. I’m starting things off with a swerve here!

When people think of the weakest Horsemen ever, Paul Roma immediately comes to mind. It seems to be the consensus that the man had no business being in the legendary group, and it was a complete disaster that he was ever added. I counter with “Yeah, but Steve McMichael...”

Paul Roma could work. He wasn’t phenomenal, but he was good. He also wasn't in the group that long anyway to create lasting damage. It was largely a harmless stumble.

McMichael, on the other hand, was the equivalent of your once in-shape uncle going through wrestling camp for a month. He was clunky, he was slow and he never put in the hours necessary to understand the fundamentals of constructing a match. Oh yeah, and he was also terrible on the mic, and one of the worst color commentators of all time!

Mongo did have the look, he had the hot wife in Debra McMichael and he had the NFL background, but this was the guy who was most well-known in wrestling at that point for carrying a tiny dog around with him.

McMichael was simply given a much bigger chance than Roma and completely fumbled. Roma 1 - Mongo - 0.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
