10 Weapon Fails That Totally Ruined Wrestling Matches

6. Thunder Rosa Inadvertently Uses A Table As A Slide

Provided the workers are talented enough, a regular botch doesn't necessarily affect the quality of a match.

CM Punk botched a top rope hurricanrana, and badly, during a recent Dynamite match opposite Penta Oscura. For a moment, it all looked humiliating. And then he incorporated the tweaked knee into the story of the match, by staggering towards the turnbuckle and crumpling, and he made himself seem sympathetic by pushing on against the struggle. That displayed a superb grasp of working.

A plunder brawl is different; when an inanimate object botches, the wrestler looks like they're as sh*tty at DIY as they are hurting their opponent, rendering them a double failure.

Case in point: Thunder Rosa Vs. Mercedes Martinez on the February 16 Dynamite. Rosa attempted to set up a table with the intention of drilling her through it with a death valley driver from the apron. The table was so stubborn that, as a workaround, she propped it up against the apron, taking so long that all momentum and interest was lost.

This move never happened - Martinez reversed it into a suplex - but that move barely happened either. After taking an eternity to set the spot up, they each slid down the table in what looked like a fun time that rather betrayed the intended fiery tone.
