10 Weird Wrestling Matches That Drew Incredible TV Ratings

1. The Stooges vs. Mean Street Posse (Raw - 10 May 1999) - 8.61

And now we come to this.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco vs. The Mean Street Posse has already been revealed as one of Raw's highest-rated segments ever. In fact, it was third on the list beneath the likes of The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon, Steve Austin and The Undertaker.

Like the answer to some obscure trivia question you'd swear was wrong, The Stooges vs. The Posse popped a gigantic 8.61 quarter hour rating on the 10 May 1999 episode of Raw. They were helped by Bradshaw vs. Faarooq just before them, but Patterson, Brisco and the boys finished off the quarter by increasing the viewership.

That's hard to fathom. It's not as though The Posse could have been expected to pull something worthwhile from the ageing Patterson and Brisco, so perhaps people tuned in to see just how bad the match would be. That's the only thing the Observer could think of to explain why the rating was so high, too.
