10 Weird Wrestling Matches That Drew Incredible TV Ratings

7. Jeff Jarrett vs. X-Pac (Raw - 28 June 1999) - 7.34

Jeff Jarrett vs. X-Pac for the Intercontinental Title on the 28 June 1999 fell right before that massive 9.5 rating The Undertaker vs. Steve Austin pulled in on the same show.

There was surely some bleed over there. People likely switched from Nitro in anticipation of the title match and an Austin win, probably because WCW were presenting Sid Vicious vs. Scott Putski at the same time; compared to that and a David Flair vs. Kevin Nash main event, Jarrett vs. X-Pac must have felt like the best match ever.

The pair would have better matches together, but they still set the scene for 'Taker vs. Austin nicely, capitalised on the strong switchover from Nitro and could boast afterwards about an absurdly high 7.34 rating for an average match. In the Observer, Dave Meltzer credited Debra's appearance at ringside as a key component in the bout's success.

It wouldn't be the last time Debs was a draw (more on that later).
