10 Weird Wrestling Matches That Drew Incredible TV Ratings

6. Goldust vs. The Godfather (Raw - 5 April 1999) - 6.72

Should anyone require a refresher course on just how weird the Attitude Era was, they must watch Goldust vs. The Godfather. One week removed from WrestleMania XV, Goldust's bizarre pal the Blue Meanie was referring to his superior as "Mommy". Meanwhile, Godfather was trying to buy off opponents by offering up some prostitutes.

Read that to anyone who wasn't a fan back then, and watch their eyes widen.

There wasn't much to the match aside from Godfather threatening to kick Goldust's head in because he was sniffing the legs of his "Ho Train". Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler spent the bulk of the segment on commentary discussing The Undertaker's plan to crucify Stephanie McMahon later in the broadcast. Wow.

Aided by that story purring in the background, and the fact that The Godfather had developed into one of the WWF's most over characters, the match drew a 6.72 quarter hour rating. The abduction angle was the main reason for that, and yet the record books show Goldust vs. Godfather in that slot.
