10 Weirdest Abandoned WWE Moments
2. Jinder Mahal Comes In Peace
A professional wrestler is a combat athlete who exists in kayfabe to win matches, rise up the ranks, and make money and pursue championships along the way. Whether they achieve this or not, they train for the purpose. This involves learning skills with which to inflict pain on their opponents in what is an emulated fight.
Leave it to the geniuses at WWE to Tell Stories about a wrestler who "comes in peace".
You might remember Jinder Mahal's return for such storylines as "loses to the entire RAW roster in under three minutes" and "inexplicably wins the WWE Title after Vince noticed his traps". You might not remember his brief 2016 run as 'The Enlightened One', in which Mahal shot vignettes guiding the audience towards inner peace via breathing exercises.
Wrestling stars don't get over by wearing boots and trunks - a character of some sort is required in the crazed theatre of it all - but they don't get over by breathing noticeably, either. Well, Shane McMahon did, but he's Vince's kid. Has there ever been a more drastic gulf between character and situation?
This was akin to putting Rodney Dangerfield in Requiem For A Dream.
